Georgia freshman Will Sumner became the first Bulldog to win the men's 800-meter national title in program history, running a personal-best 1:44.26 at the NCAA Division 1 Championships at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin. Sumner opened with a 53.12-second split on the first 400, then closed in a negative split of 51.15 to clinch the national title, becoming the first freshman to secure the crown since Emmanuel Korir of UTEP in 2017.
